What are the benefits of contracting a professional painting company vs the DIY (Do It Yourself) approach?

Some of the upfront benefits that hiring a professional painting company can be broken down into these categories. Expertise, efficiency & most importantly safety. Some of the things that fall under the expertise column are product quality, knowledgable suggestions on color schemes or design, durability & more more. As far efficiency, hiring a company that has all the right tools and experience to do the job can save you lots of time & by extension money along the way. Most people would also agree that the stress that comes along with the project is not worth it & would rather outsource it to someone else that is better suited for the planning and labor. Last but not least is the safety feature. This can be represented by the products being used, the handling of tools & insurance coverage tide to the service.

What are some of the things to consider before starting a my home's remodeling or painting project?

A few things to ask yourself that will eventually be brought up during an estimate interview with a company are generally the following.

  1. What are some of your ideas with this project. Do you have a specific goal?

  2. What areas of the living space are you remodeling or painting?

  3. What is your budget?

  4. Do you have a deadline?

What does the process generally look like when working with a professional painting company? How long would the project take & is there any disruption to my day to day routine?

The first step is always the consultation. This allows the company/contractor to ask you about your goals, budget, timeline & other details that can help them assist you to the best of their ability. Along with this normally comes the estimate. This can be done over the phone or online but ultimately it is best for an in person estimate for the professional to asses some of the things that might be a bit harder to explain over the phone like the condition or texture of set area.

The second step might be the most creative & most important. Color consultation, material recommendation, & adjusting the options to your needs. This will be the only visible thing left behind so make sure both parties are on the same page before moving forward.

The third step would be preparation. From here on out the company will take over so that you can be stress free & only worry about being excited to enjoy your new space. Furniture protection & surface prep will be done.

The forth step is painting & remodeling. Pretty self explanatory, this is where the magic happens. We would like to stress that something that a good company should be doing during this step is constantly communication with customer in case of any delays, issues or simply update on the progress. Accommodation to your day-to-day should be taken in consideration by the company to disrupt it the least possible.

The fifth step would consist of clean-up & final touches. This can also be seen as a final inspection so that any corrections can be done before leaving the space & get it ready for the owners to enjoy!

The final step is the post project follow-up. Nothing is as important than leaving the customer in this case you, happy with the outcome of the project. This is a great time to give any feed back, touch up requests or ask any other questions to insure that nothing gets left behind. A good company welcomes any feed back as it is the best way to improve or continue doing a great job.

Of course there is not much to say about the final product, hopefully it speaks for itself.

This is your space & you deserve to make the most out of it. One thing we do recommend is to always think back to your original vision. This plays a big part when getting new furniture to match the space you set out to create.

One last thing! When it comes to longevity, a professional company like ourselves will definitely do their part but after it is your job to keep your space looking prestige. Here are some tips we would recommend in case you come across this scenarios.

How long should I wait before cleaning the walls?

Some paints are more susceptible to cleaning so that is why we recommend on using the best quality paint to avoid damage. With that being said, you should wait at least 2 weeks before cleaning freshly painted walls to give the paint a chance to fully cure and harden.

Should I avoid certain products to clean the walls?

Make sure to use gentle all-purpose cleaners or a damp cloths. Avoid using ammonia-based cleaners, bleach, acidic cleaners or oil-based degreasers.

Can I hang pictures without damaging the paint or wall?

Avoid using nails to hang pictures or frames unless it is a heavy piece that requires such hanging system. For simple picture/frames look for non damaging hanging systems which usually use velcro strips or back tape. Although these might be safe, wait at least 2 weeks before hanging anything just to be safe.
